Welcome to Fawkner Chiropractic Centre. We look forward to being able to provide to you with the best drug free, surgery free health care possible.
I was introduced to Chiropractic by my grandfather in the early 1980’s when he injured his back on his farm lifting a steel gate. After a few months of taking medication without improvement, his friend suggested he try the local Chiropractor. After one adjustment he was walking again, pain-free, without the aid of a stick.
A couple of months later my family and I were having dinner with Dr. Victor West, Head of Orthodontics at Melbourne University. He had previously been commissioned by the Victorian Government to investigate Chiropractic and whether it should become a Government Funded Tertiary degree. Upon his recommendation, it came to be and ultimately led to my career path in Chiropractic. There was a need for Chiropractic in the health care spectrum and that need was not being met by conventional medicine. After completing a 5 year Bachelor of Applied Science in Chiropractic, I have been registered and practicing as a Chiropractor in Victoria since 1991. I have been a member of the Chiropractic and Osteopathic College of Australasia since 2002. The College fosters education and research into musculoskeletal healthcare.
We have an interest in caring for people from all stages of life and all walks of life, from children to the elderly, from elite athletes to those more seditary. I have had an association through my children training and competing with the Victorian Institute of Sport in both gymnastics and diving. Both sports placing a very high emphasis on joint mobility, strength, control and perception of movement. Whilst Victorian Institue of Sport athletes are at an elite level of the musculoskeletal health sceptrum, the science, goals and level of care applied to elite athletes should be applied to everyone. Many spinal problems begin in the early years of life with jolts, knocks and falls. These problems may only become apparent after years of degenerative change. It makes sense that these problems are seen, recognized, understood and cared for as early as possible so as to allow that person to function and perform at their highest potential.
At the Fawkner Chiropractic Centre we care for people with spinal problems such as arthritis, scoliosis, disc bulges, herniations and prolapses. We place a high emphasis on spinal joint mobility and exercise to promote core muscular strength and perception of movement. Associated with spinal problems, we care for people suffering sciatica, headaches and migraines. I have a keen interest and a long history in caring for and managing people with shoulder problems such as rotator cuff syndromes, subacromial bursitis, frozen shoulders and supraspinatus tendonitis.
At the Fawkner Chiropractic Centre we thank you for the opportunity to provide you with the highest quality health care. We look forward to working with you now and into the future.
